stage 09

so ricco gets another stage win and one lucky tipster picked him for this stage. is he a real contender for overall???

a lot can change over the next two weeks, especially now since cadel has had a tumble and may have hurt his collarbone.

do you still tip him for the big mountain stage tomorrow, or should valverde get your vote. this is the last stage before the rest day and then you can start using your previous tips again.

stage 10 is the one that a couple of our regulars on the weekend rides recently did as part of the l'etape du our ride. check out their write up here and here.

Response from SBS regarding short coverage in WA.
--------------------------------

Thank you for your email about our coverage of the Tour de France in WA.

Due to the 2 hour time difference, the live coverage in WA will be shorter than in the eastern states, however when it crosses live to WA it will continue live till the end of the race, including the jersey presentations.

With regards to the starting time of the stages (usually 10pm - but once at 10.30pm), SBS is obliged to continue a degree of 'normal' programming for non-Tour viewers (as per our Charter), and this means continuing on with series such as Big Love at 8.30pm and RocKwiz at 9.30pm (although in some stages in WA the live coverage begins at 9.30pm and a couple of times at 8.30pm).

SBS is broadcasting every stage live, however, we do not screen the full stage live. ASO, the host broadcaster, does not provide us with full race coverage of any stage. In most cases the stage is 1-2 hours old before we receive satellite coverage.

In the eastern states, before the satellite footage is received, the host, Mike Tomalaris, and guests explain and set-up the race for viewers who may not be familiar with the event (also, there is a cooking segment with Gabriel Gaté). However, viewers in WA do not lose this time, and in most cases go directly to the race in progress.

For your interest, SBS will provide an extra 10 hours of live coverage in WA this year than was shown last year.
