tour tipping 2008 rules

Tour de France
2008 Tipping Competition

Rules

  1. Each competitor selects one rider per stage.

  2. That one rider is used in three competitions running concurrently.
    General Classification (Yellow Jersey)
    Sprinters Points (Green Jersey)
    Mountain Points (Polka dot Jersey)

  3. Each entry must be in by 6pm the evening preceding each stage.

  4. For each week (in between rest days) you cannot select the same rider twice.
    Week 01 = Stage 01 → Stage 10
    Week 02 = Stage 11 → Stage 15
    Week 03 = Stage 16 → Stage 21
Example – if you select Robbie McEwen for the first stage the, you cannot select him again till Stage 11.
This stops a competitor picking either McEwen or Boonan for every stage of the first week.

  5. General Classification (Yellow Jersey)
The selected rider will receive a time based on a combination of finishing time minus any bonus points (converted to seconds) accumulated during that stage
Bonus times will be awarded based on the points as found on the daily results page of the website - http://www.letour.fr/
Bonus times will be given for mountain points, sprint points and a 30 sec bonus to the rider awarded most aggressive of the day.
The competitor with the lowest accumulated time at the end of the Tour will be the winner.
In the event of a tie, a count back based on stage wins and overall stage finishing places will be used.
Example Stage 3 2006 Tour de France
    Rider - Jens Voigt
    Finish Position - 112
    Finish Time 4:59:23
    Final Sprint points - 0
    Intermediate Sprint points – 16
    Mountain points – 6
    Most combative – 0
    Total points – 22
    Bonus seconds – 0:00:22
    Final Time - 4:59:01

  6. Sprinters Points (Green Jersey)
Each rider accumulates points per stage based on the points available for finishing the stage and intermediate sprints during the stage.
The competitor with the highest accumulated sprint points at the end of the Tour is the winner.
In the event of a tie, a count back based on stage wins and overall stage finishing places will be used.

  7. Mountain Points (Polka dot Jersey)
Each rider accumulates points per stage based on the points available for mountain top finishes and other classified mountains during the stage.
The competitor with the highest accumulated mountain points at the end of the Tour is the winner.
In the event of a tie, a count back based on number of HC class mountain points, and then Cat 1 mountain points, etc will be used.

  8. Overall Rules
If the selected rider records a DNF, DQ or DNS (last minute withdrawal) then the competitor will receive the time of the 75th% of the field.
    i. Example – for a field of 172 finishers the competitor gets the time of the 129th place rider but with the bonus times/points the selected rider has accumulated.
If the competitor does not get a selected rider in before the cut off time, they will receive the time and points for the 75th% of the field.
If the competitor picks a rider that they have already selected in that week, they will receive the time and points for the 75th% of the field.

  9. Entry and Prizes
Entry fee will be $10 per team and an individual may enter as many teams as they like.
All entry fee money will be divided up into the final prize pool
Monetary prizes will be awarded to the first 3 places for each competition as well as a daily stage prize for the winner of the day.
The daily stage prize will be divided up between all competitors that have picked that rider.
If no competitor picks the stage winner, the daily prize is returned to the pool and distributed to each daily stage prize winner at the end of the tour.
